Surgery scheduling is performed through Dr. Portland's nurse, Lisa. Her direct phone number is: 847-724-4074. It is imperative Dr. Portland see and examine you prior to scheduling surgery to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and to ensure surgery is necessary. On occasions, it may be necessary to schedule surgery before Dr. Portland has seen you. Please schedule a clinic visit a day or two prior to surgery to ensure surgery is necessary and to discuss the surgery, its rationale and risks, and the rehabilitation course.

A history and physical examination is necessary for all surgeries. Younger and healthy individuals may have this performed by Dr. Portland. Otherwise, the patient's pediatrician and/or internist should provide this. Blood work may be necessary as well. Please check with Dr. Portland's nurse, Lisa.
